What will there be to do in heaven

It is hard for us to love others if we do not first love the Lord Jesus Christ. Do not miss Heaven. Even when we allow our imaginations to run wild on the joys of Heaven, we will not really know the realities until we are there, but one thing is certain, nothing will compare to being in the eternal presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. What a thrilling future for those who know that someday we will populate the kingdom of God.

The New Heaven and New Earth will contain elements of the earth we now know: art, worship in music, song, and dance, perhaps building, decorating, designing, and instruction. Simply because we will know God for who He is and comprehend His greatness and majesty in a way that is veiled to us at present doesn't mean that we will know every craft and trade and possess all knowledge to complete jobs. Perhaps in Heaven we will learn new trades by which we can benefit our heavenly society and magnify God.

While the absence of crime, death, and decay will necessarily delete some jobs from Heaven physicians, dentists, police and firefighters , not all levels of judiciary are swept away. Consider, many verses concerning heaven state that the saints will rule the universe, judge the angels, and that the Lord will appoint the rulers and authorities of heaven in accordance with His will and our faithfulness.

See Mark , Luke , 1 Corinthians 6: 3. All this talk of jobs may have you thinking that Heaven may instead be a place of all work and no play. I should hope not. I must tell you that I am looking forward to heavenly recreation as well. Hiking, kayaking, sports, and horseback riding may be just a few of the recreational enjoyments that await.

Heaven too will be a place where we serve and work. Revelation mentions this several times; how we will be serving God. That is why God gave us work to do in the garden. God made man to study and to have dominion over his environment.

He gave him both physical and mental work, for both are vital to the joy of living. We may not know specially what positions we will have in heaven from Scripture, but what we are assured of is that these jobs will be exciting and fulfilling.

When we enter heaven, we will serve God in creative, joyful and satisfying ways. We will be delighted in our work there. Jesus promised that He left the earth to go and prepare a place for those who would eventually follow Him to heaven.

On that point, the Bible is unmistakably clear. As Christians, we are right to find comfort in that promise. We can trust in the promise that God is preparing a special place for us in heaven. There are a number of other things we can look forward to when we enter heaven.
